IBANG PESTE · MALAKAS NA EBIDENSYA

Rice-field rats

Daga sa palayan · Rattus argentiventer and other local species

Field signs—cut stems, footprints, burrows and patch pattern—are needed; not every missing hill is rat damage.

  • Look for cleanly cut stems or panicles, footprints, droppings, gnaw marks and active burrows.
  • PhilRice notes that more damage may occur in the center of the field with eat-out patches, but signs should be checked.
  • Compare with snail damage on young seedlings and stem-borer whiteheads.

LOOK-ALIKEGolden apple snail

Brown shell and pink egg mass on vegetation or embankments; inspect the field edges and water inlets.

LOOK-ALIKERice stem borer

Kailan at saan lumalabas?

Mga yugto: Lahat ng yugto.

Rat pressure is affected by habitat, food availability and synchronous cropping in the community.

  1. Map fresh damage and active burrows; document whether stem or panicle is cut.
  2. Coordinate community-level monitoring and timing with MAO; avoid unsafe poison handling.
  3. For severe or expanding damage, consult local agriculture staff for a coordinated plan.

Non-chemical at IPM

  • Community-based synchronized action, habitat sanitation and burrow management are emphasized in PhilRice advisories.
  • Use traps only according to safe local guidance and away from children, pets and non-target wildlife.

  • Manage crop residues and weeds along bunds as locally advised.
  • Coordinate planting and rat control timing across the community.

  • May pesticide exposure o posibleng unsafe application.

Dalhin ang close-up at whole-plant photos, crop stage, field map/location, variety, dates, water condition at product label sa technician.
