DISORDER · KATAMTAMAN NA EBIDENSYA

Empty grains / poor grain filling

Walang laman o hindi napunong butil

Empty or unfilled grains have many possible causes, including pollination-stage weather stress, rice bug feeding, stem borer whiteheads, water/nutrient stress and disease. Inspect before choosing a cause.

  • Check whether whole panicles are white (possible whitehead) or individual grains are empty/discolored.
  • Look for rice bugs at flowering/milk stage and inspect stems for borer damage.
  • Record flowering date, weather, water supply and variety.

Kailan at saan lumalabas?

Mga yugto: Pamumulaklak, Pagpuno ng butil, Paghinog.

Flowering and grain-filling conditions matter; exact cause requires crop-stage and pest inspection.

  1. Collect representative panicles from affected and healthy areas.
  2. Inspect grain contents and look for bugs or stem lesions.
  3. If large loss is developing, consult crop specialist before applying pesticide or fertilizer.

Non-chemical at IPM

  • Preserve records and compare planting dates and weather across plots.
  • Plan next season around locally advised variety, crop calendar and water reliability.

Mga dapat iwasan

  • Huwag mag-spray dahil lang maraming empty grain; it may be abiotic or another crop problem.

  • Record flowering date, storms, water interruption, variety and observed pests.

  • May pesticide exposure o posibleng unsafe application.

Dalhin ang close-up at whole-plant photos, crop stage, field map/location, variety, dates, water condition at product label sa technician.
